What a great weekend. In our first game we beat an upstart 916 Select. We were in control the whole game, but just couldn’t pull away. We have been working on our composure over the last couple of weeks and never let the Select team get close enough to get any hope.
The second game was a redemption game. We played the Rocktown Ballers blue team that beat us 2 weekends ago. Unlike the first game, we were able to keep out composure and put the pressure back onto the Ballers. Thanks to a huge late rebound by Joey, great ball handling from Spencer and a clutch free throw from Vince, we managed to pull out a 3 point victory. There were plenty of opportunities for us to lose our focus and composure, but we simply could not be cracked.
In the championship game we played the Reno Ballers. We struggled mightily in the first half, although we ended the half tied at 9. I challenged the boys to up their focus and intensity and push the lead out to 10 by the end of the third. At the end of the third we were up 11 and ended up winning in lopsided fashion. We played great team defense giving up only 3 points in the second half. Well done boys. This was a team effort and all of our boys deserve a pat on the back for this one.
