The weekend did not start well for us. We came out flat and failed to play defense up to our capabilities. I saw no effort to help on defense or pressure the ball. Against an aggressive team, we gave up far too many points. I noticed a lack of focus in the huddles and did everything in my power to bring us back. As it turned out, it was just one of those days. We couldn’t play defense or hit a layup, which is a dangerous combination.
The second game we blew out an under matched Hurricanes team. Our intensity was back and we played great defense. This is the team we are used to seeing!
In our third game we had great fun. We were able to break up the teams with our 3rd grade Xtreme brothers. We matched the teams up evenly and all the kids took the game seriously and challenged each other. This was fun to watch and gave me a chance to see how some of the 3rd graders interacted with out team. We might see a couple of them in the coming weeks filling in for us if necessary.
I love how the weekend finished on a high note. I think that they first game was a nice little wake up for our team. We have 3 weeks left until Reno to rekindle our inner fire. I will be working with Jesse on ways to bring that back. Our practices are going to be VERY intense leading up to Reno . We will finish the season with a flurry!!!
Thanks,
Coach Mack
